Message from the Advertising Chairman-
Please contact our Advertising Chairman,
Vince Bruno, for information regarding placement of paid advertisements in the
OCA E-News or in this Website.
Policy
Statement-
We have had both
positive and negative responses to advertising in the E-NEWS. So far the
positive responses have exceeded the negative responses. However, the board felt
it necessary to issue a response regarding advertising in the E-NEWS and OCA
Website. The board endorses the use of advertising in OCA publications for
several reasons. First the OCA is a volunteer home owners association, this
means that membership is not mandatory as in some of the newer developments,
especially those on the North Shore. In those developments monthly dues are paid
and those funds are used for the same type of activities sponsored by the OCA.
The monthly dues can run as much as $25.00 or more. The OCA in comparison
operates on a membership fee of $35.00 PER YEAR. In addition, without the
ability to require mandatory membership our membership stands at about 15% of
the total number of homeowners in the development. This level of support from
the community makes it impossible to operate without other sources of revenue
such as advertising and/or special events such as the 5K run. Additionally, our
business members provide needed or desired services and support the community
through employment of residents and their families. As such, we fee it necessary
to give them the opportunity to make the community aware of what they have to
offer as well. We hope this explanation provides our members with a good
understanding of why we support advertising in our publications. Thanks for your
